Equity Investment Team

Madison's equity portfolios are managed by a team of investment professionals who determine strategy and conduct research toward the selection of common stocks that meet the growth and valuation criteria described in our Large Cap Equity Management and Mid Cap Equity Management overviews.

Jay Sekelsky, Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer, is the lead portfolio manager for Large-Cap equity portfolios.

Rich Eisinger, Managing Director, is the lead portfolio manager for Mid-Cap equity portfolios.

Jay Sekelsky, CFA, Executive Director/Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Sekelsky serves as the head of equity investments for Madison and oversees Madison’s investment management teams. He joined Madison Investment Advisors in January 1990 as an Assistant Portfolio Manager. He has over 20 years of Investment Management experience, and he holds a BBA and MBA from the University of Wisconsin and has also earned both the CPA and CFA designations. Mr. Sekelsky has been a member of the firm’s Executive Committee since its inception.

John Brown, CFA, Vice President/Portfolio Manager
Mr. Brown has over 25 years of investment experience, serving as a portfolio manager since 1987. He is a Portfolio Manager on the Madison equity team. Prior to joining Madison, Mr. Brown served in a similar capacity for MEMBERS Capital Advisors and Montgomery Asset Management in San Francisco. He earned a BS in Finance and Computer Science from Northern Illinois University, and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin.

David DeVito, CMT, Vice President/Head of Trading
Mr. DeVito is Head of Trading at Madison. Prior to joining the firm in 2006, he was Director of Trading at Curian Capital in Denver and has held trading positions with Citigroup and Brown Brothers Harriman & Company in New York City. Mr. DeVito holds a BA in Economics from Marist College, an MBA in Finance and Economics from the Stern School at New York University and has earned the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation. Mr. DeVito is FINRA-registered.

Ray Di Bernardo, CFA, Vice President/Portfolio Manager
Mr. Di Bernardo is the lead portfolio manager for Madison's Covered Call portfolios and has more than 25 years of equity management experience. Prior to joining Madison in 2003 he was an equity analyst at Concord Trust in Chicago, and before that, an equity analyst and co-manager of international and emerging market portfolios at a Toronto-based international equity firm. Mr. Di Bernardo holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario and is a CFA charterholder.

Bruce Ebel, CFA, Vice President/Portfolio Manager
Mr. Ebel serves as portfolio manager for large-cap growth equities. A member of our Investment Strategy Committee, Mr. Ebel joined Madison after assuming similar roles at a variety of Chicago, Boston and Madison based investment management firms including Kemper Asset Management, Loomis Sayles, State Street Research, and CUNA Mutual. He holds BBA and MS Finance degrees from the University of Wisconsin and has also earned the CFP designation.

Richard Eisinger, Managing Director/Portfolio Manager
Mr. Eisinger is the lead equity manager for Madison’s mid-cap equity strategy. Prior to joining Madison Investment Advisors, Mr. Eisinger worked in the equity research department at Piper Capital Management in Minneapolis and as an investment manager for Spectrum Advisors. He holds a law degree from the University of Louisville and an MBA in finance from Cornell University's Johnson School of Management.

Dave Halford, CFA, Vice President/Portfolio Manager
Mr. Halford is a member of Madison's equity management team. Prior to joining Madison in 2000, he was an equity portfolio manager for the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation and before that, with Firstar Investment Research and Management. Mr. Halford holds both a BS and MBA degree from the University of Wisconsin.

Matt Hayner, CFA, Vice President/Portfolio Manager
Mr. Hayner serves as a portfolio manager and equity analyst. He has been a member of the equity team since 2002. Prior to joining Madison, Mr. Hayner worked at the Valspar Corporation in Minneapolis, MN. Mr. Hayner holds a BS from Eastern Illinois University, and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas.

Drew Justman, CFA, Vice President/Equity Analyst
Mr. Justman serves as an equity analyst on the firm’s equity team. Mr. Justman graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000 with a BBA in Finance and Economics. After working at Merrill Lynch, Mr. Justman returned to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned a Master of Science in Finance, graduating in 2005 from the Applied Security Analysis Program.

Marian Quade, CFA, Vice President/Portfolio Manager
Ms. Quade is a member of Madison’s equity team and specializes in personalized portfolio management for Madison’s high net worth relationships. Prior to joining Madison she spent 22 years at U.S. Bancorp Asset Management in roles of increasing responsibility including research, portfolio management and Head of Equities. She became an equity fund manager in 1989 and managed the Firstar Growth and Income Fund. Ms. Quade holds a BA in Economics from Stanford University.

Andy Romanowich, CFA, Assistant Vice President/Equity Analyst
Mr. Romanowich serves as an analyst on the equity team. Prior to joining Madison he was an equity analyst with MEMBERS Capital Advisors and with Morgan Stanley. He holds a BBA in Finance and Economics and an MS in Finance from the University of Wisconsin.

Rob Roquitte, CFA, Managing Director and Vice President/Portfolio Strategist
Mr. Roquitte has over 20 years of investment experience and is actively involved with investment strategy on both equity and fixed income portfolios and interfaces with many of Madison's institutional clients. Prior to joining Madison, he served as lead portfolio manager for several quantitatively focused mutual funds and institutional separate accounts. Mr. Roquitte received his BS in Finance and Marketing from the University of Denver and his MBA in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago.

Adam Sweet, CFA, Assistant Vice President/Equity Analyst
Mr. Sweet serves as an analyst on the Madison’s equity team. Prior to joining Madison, he was an equity analyst with MEMBERS Capital Advisors and a field engineer with National Instruments. He holds a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the Applied Security Analysis Program (ASAP) at the University of Wisconsin.

Jon Younkman, CFA, Vice President
Mr. Younkman is a member of Madison’s equity investment team. Joining Madison from MEMBERS Capital Advisors where he was a Senior Equity Analyst and Director of Research, he also has previous experience with Ark Asset Management in New York and First Chicago NBD in Detroit. Mr. Younkman holds a MBA and a BS in Engineering from the Ohio State University.
